Room Set Up For Meditation

Every individual should experience meditation, for it is a process that puts the body and mind in a peaceful and relaxed state. To those who dedicate their time to meditate, it is essential to select a room to practice. The space you pick must be tranquil and serene to sustain complete focus.

To create a more meditative atmosphere, meditation supplies must be installed in the room. By doing so, the room’s ambiance will be improved.

  • Add cushions. Homes are built with concrete floors, which isn’t an ideal setting for meditation. That is why meditation cushions were created to support the lower back of the body from getting uncomfortable and strained, especially under prolonged periods of meditation time.

It is advised to get as many cushions as you possibly can for any probable group sessions in the future. Meditations for 15 minutes and over can be physically bothersome.

  • Burn some incense. This supply adds aroma within the room that contributes to having a relaxing atmosphere. You can get yourself one from any of the Middle Eastern or Asian supermarkets. Before anything else, though, burn one incense first so you can evaluate how many you will need in your room. Samples are available in the supermarkets, so you can simply ask assistance from any present supermarket attendants.
  • Set up a table. You may create a room environment similar to the ones in India, Thailand, or Japan. Incense and other meditation artifacts like images of Buddha can be placed on top of the table to give a sense of religion. For those who are not into a religious type of meditation, you may use your family photo instead.
  • Place a CD player. Music enhances the meditation process, producing sounds that trigger the purest form of our inner emotions. Most people find it difficult to start meditating, so music is used to ease up and initially prepare the mind and body.
  • Stick some candles. The House lighting system can be too bright for the eyes, even when they are shut, for meditation. Unlike fluorescent or incandescent lights, candles are less harsh to the eyes, giving off a bit of warmth. It’s suggested to light up seven candles on too of your table when you meditate.
  • Pleasant images. Hang photos of people who are dear to your heart on the wall. The pictures you choose will serve as a reminder for all the reasons why you meditate in the first place. You may also want to use portraits of beautiful sceneries, animals, or nature.
  • Add flowers. Put freshly cut flowers in a vase and place it inside the room. The smell of the incense, combined with the fresh aroma of flowers, contribute to calming the mind.

A person who stops meditating will never achieve nor master the art of meditation. A sudden stop from a regular meditation practice means restarting meditation from scratch. However, avoidance with meditation discontinuity is possible with a room well-supplied with meditation objects.
